One Spice, Two Spice, Red Spice, Blue Spice

November 26, 2025

At The Insider Studio, clients often ask us the same flavorful question: Where should the spices live? While we’re partial to less clutter and love the neatness of spices tucked away, every cook has their own style. Inspired by Dr. Seuss, we thought we’d rhyme our way through the many options—because whether you shelve, spin, or stash, the joy is in finding the spot that suits you best.

One Spice, Two Spice, Red Spice, Blue Spice

A Seussian take on spice storage

I like my spices in a drawer,

Not on a shelf, not on the floor!

I like them stacked in tidy rows,

With labels clear from head to toe.

I like them near my stovetop flame,

So cooking’s quick- it’s not a game!

Some folks say heat will make them fade,

But I trust my oven—it’s built pro-grade.

I like my spices in the cool,

Not near the sink, but by the stool.

I like them tucked away from light,

In cozy corners out of sight.

I’ve seen them hung upon a rack,

In jars that click and clack and stack.

I’ve seen them spinning on a wheel,

A carousel of zest appeal!

Some keep them in a pantry bin,

With thyme, paprika, and ground cumin.

Some stash them in magnetic tins,

On fridges, walls, or window trims!

Some like their spices alphabetic,

Some go wild and energetic!

Some use codes or color swatches,

Some are dated, some wear splotches.

But me? I’m simple, neat, and keen—

I like my spices crisp and clean.

No matter where they choose to dwell,

As long as they perform and richly smell!

So sprinkle, dash, and shake away,

Let spices dance and flavors play!

From basil bold to chili hot,

Each spice deserves its perfect spot!

Whether your spices sit proudly on display, stay stashed in pull‑outs, or hide away in drawers, every cook has their own style. At The Insider Studio, we love seeing the creative ways people make their kitchens work. Tell us—where do your spices live?
